The view extends from Chesapeake Bay in the foreground to encompass the Appalachians and the watersheds of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. Shows topographical features, cities and towns, roads and railroads, and areas of elevation and waterways, in an unusual oblique view that captures a larger amount of landscape than appears in other Civil War views such as the Bachmanns
